Explain the arrangements

The invitation should identify the host and visitor, describe their relationship and explain the proposed visit. Dates, accommodation and payment responsibilities should agree with the form and other evidence.

Status and accommodation

Where the host is in the UK, provide relevant evidence of their identity and lawful position. Explain where the visitor will stay and the host’s ability to offer it. A visitor application is not subject to the same accommodation tests as every family-route application.

Relationship evidence

Use material appropriate to the actual relationship, rather than collecting excessive private correspondence. The supporter’s genuine relationship and support arrangements should be understandable from the evidence.

Common mistakes

  • Using a template invitation containing incorrect dates or promises.
  • Claiming accommodation without explaining the actual living arrangements.

Evidence to consider

These are examples to consider where relevant, not a mandatory checklist or a guarantee that requirements are met.

  • An accurate invitation and relevant identity/status evidence.
  • Accommodation details and proportionate relationship evidence.
